Quick collage sketches, Early ’14

I find it very liberating to quickly assemble simple collages. Short, sweet and sharp they allow quick communication of quite complex ideas about the connotations we make to objects/ associations or allow a different vantage point on a familiar item. I’m interested in exploring how objects are represented and reproduced for our consumption, especially if they’re initially published for a commercial remit in say a catalogue or magazine.

I often work like this in my sketchbook towards the end of a session in the studio. These little assemblages are enough in their own right and pack enough punch not to have to go anywhere else.
