Frosted woman ’09

portrait

I wanted to make a picture of an archetypally beautiful woman. I covered the face in translucent paper as it’s not achievable to depict a perfect beauty, it is a sublime notion. We can all imagine what we think an ideal face may look like but in reality we can’t make it materialise as it’s a kind of spectre. The artificial wood print aims to further underscore ideas about unreal forms and finishes.
